Shanley- Celtic meaning “a hero’s child”.
Shanley is the daughter of a local hero. Long ago the Woodland Elves fought the ogres. The battle was fierce. But one elf stood the strongest and fought the ogres at the old tree trunk by the river. When the battle was over and all of the ogres were slain, this valiant warrior took off their helmet. Her hair fell long and red down to her shoulders. It was Shanley’s mother! She had hidden Shanley in the old tree trunk to keep her safe and when the battle came close she donned a helmet and armor and protected her daughter.
That stump is now a small monument and the battle was named “Shanley’s Defense”. Shanley wears her mother’s helmet and armor while she plays with her wooden sword.
Description:
Shanley is a One Of A Kind Artdoll. Her head, hands and feet are sculpted out of polymer clay. She has a wire armature and a cloth body. Her neck is articulate. She has green glass eyes and a mohair wig. She stands 15 inches tall (including her helmet). Her helmet is a flea market find that I believe is the lid to a silver tea pot. It has been fashioned into her helmet. Her “jeweled armor” is believed to be pewter. Her outfit is handmade. Her shoes are purchased and are faux leather. Her wooden sword was made by my husband Ron Weimert. The wooden monument was carved with a dremel and decorated with gold paint. The lettering on the wooden sign saying “Shanley’s Defense” is painted with gold and black acrylic paints. The wooden base is painted in hues of green with acrylic paint.
